Winston H. Robles, Sr., 84, of Savannah and Husband of Jessica A. Hector - Robles, died, December 13, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was born on March 28, 1932 in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. to the late Lionel and Margaret Mercer Robles.
Mr. Robles was a graduate of Charlote Amalie High School, class of 1951. He received his Bachelor of Business Education (BBA) from Inter-American University (IAU) in San German, Puerto Rico. He went on to earn his Master's of Science Education in Guidance and Counseling (MSED) from Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, New York.
He worked as a shipping clerk at Alcoa Steam Ship Company after graduating high school. He was then inducted into the United States Army in 1951, serving in Korea and returning home to St. Thomas. He worked with the Office of the U.S. Comptroller, with Mr. Richard Krobach as Comptroller. He also worked in the Department of Finance with Eugene Gottlieb and Mr. Rice. Following his graduation from IAU, he returned to work in the Department of Finance. He later became the Director of the Recreation Center (now known as Winston Ramos). Winston left St. Thomas for New York, where he worked and studied at Brooklyn College for over 22 years.
Upon retirement, he and Jessica moved to Savannah, Georgia .
His inspiration was "TO GOD BE THE GLORY< GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE."
Surviving are his wife, Jessica A. Hector Robles; children, Winston, Jr., Luis, Carlos, Ramon, Juanito, Foluke, Curtis, Ciel, Yohance and Yusuf.
Visitation will be held, Friday, December 23 from 3:00pm until 4:30pm, with a prayer service from 4:30pm to 6:30 pm, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah.
Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
