Willie "Nell" Bolton Jenkins

Our mother, Willie "Nell" Bolton Jenkins, 81, of Savannah, GA, entered into eternal rest on October 23, 2015. Born on December 10, 1933, in Millen, GA, she was the youngest of seven children born to the late Washington Bolton and Octavia Messex Bolton.
Mama was a member of the Middleground Road Church of Christ in Savannah, GA. She gave her life to Christ at the age of 13 and never looked back. She was first and foremost a Christian, which made her a better wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. Mama loved to study the Word of God and could be found most mornings at the breakfast table with her Bible open. She enjoyed reading and writing and fortunate to have several other articles published in Christian magazines and publications. Always eager to tell others about the Lord, she used her talent by speaking at Ladies Day events and by teaching Bible Classes for children and women.
After raising her children, Mama returned to school and earned her GED and her LPN license. She enjoyed the field of geriatrics and spent most of her nursing career with the Westview Nursing Home in Port Wentworth, GA and in private duty. She also enjoyed knitting, quilting and cooking for her family and neighbors. In her latter years she looked forward to Saturdays and having "her girls" over for lunch. Mama often said she was the "glue" that held her family together. Her greatest joy the past four years was spending time with her great grandson, Jaxom.
Mama was predeceased by her husbands, James E. McDow and Emory Talmadge Jenkins and also her parents and six siblings.
Her survivors include her daughters, Sandra McDow, Shirley McDow and Cheryl J. Ford (Heywood); her granddaughter, Ashley M. Nelson (Mark) and grandson, Daniel Kessler, Jr.; her great grandchildren, Jaxom T. Nelson, Trace, Tyler and Teagan Kessler; and a host of dearly loved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at the Fairhaven Funeral Home in Garden City, GA for visitation from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery in Garden City, GA.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in her memory to the American Heart Association.
