William S. Mattingly, 80, of Faulkville, Georgia, died 22 June, 2018 at St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital surrounded by family.
Born on June 11, 1938 in Augusta, Georgia, Bill was the son of the late Eleanor and Elmer Mattingly and the brother of the late Gertie Snipes and the late Alfred Mattingly. He was a graduate of the 1956 Class of Savannah's Commercial High School and served as an active member of First Baptist Church in Bloomingdale since 1990.
Mr. Mattingly loved watching sports on television, particularly the Atlanta Braves. Other hobbies included golf, doing crossword puzzles and playing online Wheel of Fortune.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Caroline R. Mattingly; sons, Bryan and Billy (Tina); daughter, Tina (Butch); eight grandchildren, Christopher, Seth, Stacey, Bryan, Brandon, Katie, Abby, and Gracie, great grandchildren; Declan and Jude; and also his stepchildren, Sylvia (Peter), Jimmy, Debra (Wing), and Julie (Susan).

. At a date To Be Announced, friends may join the family in a Celebration of Life service at the First Baptist Church in Bloomingdale, Georgia. The Rev. Jason Rowe and Gene Holland will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jews for Jesus. There will be a private interment at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
