With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William Jason "Jay" Purvis, a beloved son, brother, father, and true friend, on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025. Born on October 19th, 1976, in Savannah, Georgia, Jay enjoyed 48 years of life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Jay was a proud 1996 graduate of Robert W. Groves High School and spent his career as a dedicated heavy equipment operator, known for his skills. Outside work, he had a profound passion for the GA Bulldogs and NASCAR, offering his loyalty and enthusiasm to both.
Jay's personality was as vast as his heart. He was known for his loving nature, infectious humor, and unwavering readiness to support those he cared about. He had a unique ability to brighten any late night with a surprise phone call, text, or Facebook message, ensuring his presence was always felt by those he loved.
He leaves behind a family that adored him deeply, including his mother, Bonnie Purvis, and father, David F. Purvis (Carolyn) both of Garden City. Jay is also survived by his brother, Wesley Allen Purvis; his sons, Joshua Cody Youngblood and Tyler Jason Purvis; and his daughter, Samantha Leigh Purvis. He will also be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a myriad of friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025, at 12:00 pm at the Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel, located in Garden City, Georgia. Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation preceding the celebration from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the same location.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Baker McCullough Funeral Home-Garden City Chapel. Jay's departure leaves a void in our hearts, but his spirit will forever live on in the lives of those he touched.
