William Larry Boyette Sr 80, of Savannah GA passed away on March 15, 2017. He was a father, husband, Papa, and friend to many.
He was sick for many months after battling liver cancer.
He was born October 9, 1936 in Collins, GA to Janie Holland Boyette (Riggs) and William Charlie Boyette. His mother and father divorced and they, Larry and his mother, moved to Savannah.
She married J.C. Riggs who molded Larry into the humble servant-leader of Christ he was throughout his life.
He attended public schools in Savannah Ga and graduated in 1954 from Commercial High School where he played football. He stayed active in the Commercial Cobra Club until his death.
He briefly attended the University of Georgia and was a lifelong Bulldog fan.
Larry also served as a member of the Air Force Reserve for many years.
He worked as a dance instructor at prior to becoming a lifer with BellSouth. He went from climing poles to mangagement. All the way to Toll Test Board!
He was active Pioneers and CWA. He retired in 1991 and continued to meet for breakfast every Thursday at Larry's Restaurant with his phone company buddies up until his illness.
Larry married the love of his life Billie Jolene Burke in 1961.
They soon after had two sons to whom they were entirely dedicated.
He was a longtime member at the Lutheran Church of the Asencion, served on church council, and started the tape ministry to help spread the gospel to those who could not attend.
He was preceeded in death by Janie Riggs, J.C. Riggs, and Jolene Boyette. He leaves behind his sons William L. "Bubba" Boyette Jr. and Christopher Boyette, as well as, his grandchildren Crews Boyette and Caden Boyette.
The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care provided by Memorial Hospital, Candler Hospital, Thunderbolt Transitonal Care and Rehabilitation, and Hospice of Savannah.
Visitation: 5-7p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home on Hodgson Memorial drive on Sunday.
Fuenral Services: 12p.m. Monday at Baker McCullough Funeral Home on Hodgson Memorial drive.
Internment: Will follow the Funeral Services at Forrest Lawn Cemetery.
