William Emerson Jones

William Emerson Jones, age 84, passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 after suffering many years with Alzheimers.

Mr. Jones was born in Savannah, Georgia to Sarah and Emerson Jones. He retired from Savannah Fire Department after 34 years of service and was called, “Wild Bill” by his fellow firemen. He received a commendation for saving a 3 year old child from a burning house. He is also an honorary Board Member for the Georgia Police and Fire Games.

Mr. Jones is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda Rutherford Jones; his beloved grandson, Justin Nowicki; his brothers, Bobby Jones (Dale), and Gordon Douglas (Sarah); and his sisters, Patricia Jackson (Danny), and Brenda Olson (Pat).

He is predeceased by his daughter, Susan Nowicki.

A visitation will be held Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah Georgia 31406.

A memorial service will follow visitation and begin at 12:30 p.m with Pastor Herbert Hubbard and Pastor Kelly McInerney officiating.
