William "Bill" Wayne Boies, Sr.,71 , of Savannah passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer..
A native of LaPlata, Maryland he was the son of the late William Dayton Boies and Virginia Oram Boies.
Bill was a veteran of the US Army having retired after 20 years of service. He received many awards and obtained the rank of Sergeant First Class. Following his retirement from the US Army, Bill went to work for Firestone - Bridgestone, where he again retired as a Manager after 20 years. He was a member of Silk Hope Baptist Church.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Bill enjoyed boating, cars, racing and more than anything his family.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Pranee; children, Linda Boies Cowart (Chris) & William "Bill" Wayne Boies Jr. (Dina); grandchildren, Chase, Taylor & Emily Cowart, Giuliano & Elena Concas.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, 155 East 55th Street Suite 6H New Yory, NY 10022
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2015 a the Fairhaven Funeral Home Garden City Chapel.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Silk Hope Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Phillips officiating.
Burial: Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
