William "Billy" Long, 82, of Guyton, GA passed away unexpectedly Sunday October 14, 2018.
He was a loving husband of 61 years and a wonderful father and provider of his six children and grandchildren. He was a veteran of the US Air National Guard. He was a former member of Fellowship Assembly of God, where he was active in the building committee. He was a lineman at Savannah Electric for over 30 years and also an electrical contractor. He was a member of the Cobra Club of Commercial High School. He was a high school basketball star and later officiated as a referee. He was also was a member of the IBEW, and was an avid fisherman. He was a native of Savannah and lived in Guyton for over 50 years. Billy was a friend to many and was loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ethel Long.
He was survived by his wife Delores Chapman Long; sons, William F. Long Jr. ( Marion), Bobby C. Long (Cathy), and Russell A. Long (Rosemarie); daughters, Karen Thorton (Chris), Teresa Ciminello (Rick), and Tracy Edenfield (Tim); brother, Charles P. Long (Nell); sister, Rosemary Meyers; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday October 19, 2018 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Maranatha Assembly of God - Garden City Campus. 5224 Augusta Rd. Garden City, GA 31408
Funeral Service: Friday October 19, 2018 at 12:30 pm at Maranatha Assembly of God- Garden City Campus with Rev. Clifford Coursey and Dr. Julie Stanley-Mack officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
