William (Bill) W. Roberts, Sr. was called home on November 9, 2018 to rest in Paradise awaiting the final judgement of God, trusting in Jesus as his personal Savior and advocate. Bill was born in Swords, Georgia on August 17, 1931 to Patrick Henry Roberts and Mattie Mae Newsome Roberts, both preceding him in death. He was also predeceased by his beloved daughter, Anna Laura (Lolly) Roberts, a brother Patrick H. Roberts, Jr. and a sister Catherine Louise Roberts Luther. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Newton Roberts, a son William Wade Roberts, Jr. , daughter- in-law Jacqueline (Jackie) Walker Roberts, two grandchildren Travis and Tori Roberts, a sister Mary Todd Yokum, and several nieces and nephews. Bill graduated from Benedictine Military School in 1950 and entered the Army with Georgia Hussars 178 th AAA Operations Detachment upon their activation that same year. He attended leadership schools at Fort Bliss, Texas and Camp Chaffee, Arkansas prior to graduating from Officer's Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia in 1951. He served as a 1st Lt. in the Korean War with Company B 15 th Infantry Regiment 3 rd Infantry Division. Upon separation from service to our country, Bill attended Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating in 1957 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a member of the Industrial Management Council during the 1960's and 1970's and was instrumental in the rehabilitation and reorganization of the Savannah Chapter which became one of the most outstanding chapters in the country. He retired from Kemira, Inc. after 36 years of service. Bill was a former member of Taliaferro Baptist Church from 1957 to 1978. He was currently an active member and faithful deacon of Isle of Hope Baptist Church from 1978 to present. Visitation will be November 12, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home on Hodgson Memorial Drive. Funeral services will be held on November 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Isle of Hope Baptist Church located at 22 Rose Avenue, with burial at Bonaventure Cemetery, Greenwich Section.
