William "Bill" R. Willis Sr., 85, passed away Sunday July 15, 2018 under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Bill was born in Rebecca, Ga and was a graduate of Mercer University with a bachelor's in biology and Chemistry. He was ordained as a deacon in the Free Will Baptist Church and served as deacon for many years. He served in the US Army as 1st Lieutenant. Bill was apart of Gideon's International, Lions Club, and was the chairman of Housing Authority. He was Plant Manager for Everglade Sugar Refinery in Clewiston, FL and Vice President of Operations at Savannah Foods in Savannah, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Eva Lily Houston Willis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Suzanne Jarrell Willis; son, William Ray Willis Jr. (Patricia Ann); daughters, Denise Rich (William), Janet Rene Williams, Paula Willis, and Terri Powers (Michael); 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Wednesday July 18, 2018 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home- Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Funeral Service: 2:00 pm Wednesday July 18, 2018 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home- Hubert C. Baker Chapel with Rev. Michael Locklear and Rev. Arden Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwich Cemetery.
