William “Bill” Lawrance Jackson, 91, of Savannah, passed away August 15th at home under Hospice Care. William was a native of Macon, GA. He was a 1952 graduate of Georgia Tech receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. He met his wife of 55 years, Phyllis, while they were both employed at the Standard Oil Indiana Refinery in Wood River, IL. Phyllis preceded Bill in death. They were parents of three daughters and one son. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and retired from the Army Corps of Engineers as a structural engineer, PE. He was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church where he served on the financial committee and as an usher. William was a recent member of the White Bluff United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Julia Barbee, Joyce Mollica (Gary), and Jayne Jackson, all of Marietta, GA; grandsons, Alexander William Barbee III (Victoria), Gary Stephen Mollica Jr., Michael Thomas Mollica (Cortney), Jacob Jackson Mollica; granddaughters, Alaina Louise Gambrell (Robby), Margaret “Meg” Victoria Littell (Josh), and Jaclyn “Jacey” Christine Mollica. Great-grandchildren, Blake Barbee, Mason Mollica, Zion, Ezra, Eloise, and Jude Gambrell, and Eden Littell; and a brother, John “Guy” Jackson PhD. of Vicksburg, MS.
A private graveside service will be held at 10AM Thursday August 20 at Greenwich Cemetery in Savannah.
