Mrs. Willene Strickland Cobb died Thursday, January 12, 2023 at home. She was born Sally Willene Fisher on April 14,1939 to Mildred Edenfield Fisher and William Cecil Fisher.
Mr. Fisher died when Willene was very young. She and her mother lived with her maternal grandparents and extended family in Savannah. Years later, her mother remarried a wonderful man, Roy Whetstone.
Mrs. Cobb graduated from Savannah High School. She attended Armstrong Junior College and Georgia Teacher’s College (GSU) in Statesboro. Willene worked for Lesser’s Men’s Quality Shop for many years through school and beyond. She was very successful in real estate in Savannah, working with Fred and Janice Williams, Konter Realty, and ReMax Savannah. Willene was elected president of SABOR in 1992 and named Realtor of the Year in 1983.
Willene was predeceased by her parents and her husbands, Edward Owen Strickland, Cecil Delano Cobb, and Donald Everett Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Bunger (Danny), Pamela Epstein; stepdaughter, Shawn Cobb; and one sister; Kim Whetstone. Mimi had three wonderful grandchildren, Daniel Bunger (Meagan), Katherine Bunger, and Joseph Bunger (Juliette); and two beautiful great-granddaughters.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 16, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. in the Hodgson Memorial Chapel at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406. A burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 315 Greenwich Rd, Savannah, GA 31404.
