Wendell Gail Fetzer,76 , of Okatie, South Carolina (Chechessee River) formerly of Savannah, Georgia passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Hospice Savannah, Inc .
A native of Savannah, Georgia , he was the son of the late Randall C. Fetzer and the late Ruth Alma Webb Fetzer.
Wendell was a member of Church of the Palms United Methodist Church and formerly Cokesbury United Methodist Church (1970-2012). He was a graduate of Carlisle Military School in Bamberg, South Carolina where he was Cadet Commander and was the first Cadet to attain the Rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Wendell entered the workplace in the Electrical Supply Business with GE Supply moving to Baker & Jarrell and now Georgia Electric Supply Inc. where he was the President and General Manager; he loved his family, his river (Chechessee River), fishing especially Trout fishing, his boat, his work and those he worked with and most of all his piddling.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Faye Hartley Fetzer; his children, Randall "Randy" Hartley Fetzer (Elizabeth Bakos), Gaye Fetzer Herndon (Rick); grandchildren, Stephany Bryant, Jaston Herndon (Meagan); great grandchildren, Hartley Grace and Cayle Herndon Bryant and many many friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 16, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel .
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm in Baker McCullough Funeral Home - Garden City Chapel, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah, Georgia with Pastor Pete Berntson and Rev. Wayne Smith officiating.
