Wayne Lee Phillips, 68, surrounded by family and friends, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 3rd, 2019 at Candler Hospital.
He was born in Easton, MD on September 14, 1950. He became an insurance agent in Maryland in 1971. He was saved in the spring of 1976, and began his tent crusade ministry 'Jesus on the Island' in 1977. He continued his ministry after moving to Georgia in 1981, where he preached and led several Bible studies. He taught on the radio and on television under "In His Grace" ministries while working at several insurance agencies in the Savannah area. He bought Clanton Insurance Agency in 1996 and continued working there for 20 years connecting with people and helping meet their needs. A customer could often step into his office and leave with much more than an insurance policy or two. He loved the Lord, loved his family, and had a deep compassion for people.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Susan Phillips. His daughter, Grace Phillips. Sisters, Edwardine Kirwan of Maryland, Rebecca Cubbedge (John) of Georgia. Brothers, Warren Phillips (Christina) of Delaware, Joe "Eddie" Phillips (Sharon) of Virginia, and Steven (Tamela) Phillips of Georgia, Uncle Jimmy Reamy (Joan) of Virginia and several nieces and nephews.
