Freddie Virginia Cribbs, 95, went to her heavenly home on May 30, 2022, while in the care of Sacred Journey Hospice. She was born in Sardis, Georgia on February 8, 1927. After graduating from high school, she moved to Savannah, Georgia, and attended Draughon’s Business School where she learned shorthand. Afterward, she went to work at Union Camp Corporation where she met and married her late husband. They built their dream home in which they raised their two sons. She lived in that home for 53 years before moving to Senoia, Georgia where she lived in what she described as her “second dream home.” She was a member of Cresthill Baptist Church and Burkhalter/CrossRoads Baptist Church in Savannah, GA and Open Door Baptist Church in Senoia, GA. She was the church secretary for Cresthill Baptist Church for a number of years and volunteered for many positions in her churches including Vacation Bible School. She loved the Lord; prayed for her family, church, and friends; and read her Bible daily. She enjoyed sewing, macrame, and going to ceramic classes with her sister, Lavelle. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening. Her yard was always beautiful. Daylilies were among her favorite flowers. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and usually completed the daily crossword in the Savannah Morning News in pen.
She was preceded in death by husband, David A. Cribbs; parents, Fred and Alma Dixon; her sisters and their spouses: Neva and Malcolm Bishop; Lavelle and Tommy Steadwell; and Dorothy and Donald Smith; Thomas Dixon, her brother, and his wife, Gladys; brother-in law, Cecil Cribbs; father-in-law, David Cribbs; and mother-in-law, Eva Wise. Surviving are her son, David (Gail) Cribbs, Fayetteville, GA; son, Fred (Jan) Cribbs, Flowery Branch, GA; grandson, Adam (Meagan) Cribbs and their son Carter, Senoia, GA; grandson, Brian (Christina) Cribbs, Duluth, GA; grandson, Joshua (Maxine) Cribbs and their sons Ryland, Rhett, and Raleigh, Blue Ridge, GA; grandson, Ryan (Brooke) Cribbs, Blue Ridge, GA; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr, Savannah, GA 31406. Visitation with the family will take place prior to the service from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Sacred Journey Hospice, 60 Oak Hill Blvd, Ste 203, Newnan, GA 30265.
