Victoria Kabase Starr, 93, passed peacefully Friday, September 21, 2012 at her home on Burnside Island surrounded by her family.
Vicki was born on August 27, 1919 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Stephen and Nazeria Kabase. She moved to Savannah, GA with her husband the late Ray Wallace, Sr. in the early 1940's. They were blessed with one son, Ray (Chip) Wallace, Jr. She later married the late Henry Starr of Macon, GA. She enjoyed living at The Landings for 33 years until moving in with her son and family. She loved working as a Beautician until the age of 85, owning her own shop for 60 years with an exceptional work ethic. She will be remembered for her love of life and family. She enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing, dancing, reading, and watching the Braves. She was a strong lady who was blessed with good health and a family who loved her dearly. The highlight of her last year was the arrival of her first great-grandchild.
Vicki is survived by her son Ray Wallace, Jr. (Chip) and, daughter-in-law Debbie Wallace; sister Gatha Brand and her husband Newell; sister-in-law, JoAnne Kabase; grandchildren Jenna McCoy and her husband Adam, and Ray Wallace, III and his wife Anna; great-grandson, Caedmon McCoy; step-son Andy Starr and his wife Cheryl, step-grandchildren Melissa Nelson and her husband Shelby, and Mandy Angel and her husband Jason; and step-great grandchildren Drayton Nelson, Addison Nelson, and Avalon Angel. She had many nieces and nephews who lived in Florida , Birmingham, and Charleston that she loved very much.
Funeral mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 26th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey East Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to Hospice Savannah, Inc., 1352 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, GA 31406
