Vicki Wolfe Akins was born on April 3, 1949, in Greenville, SC, to Herman E. Wolfe and Alice H. Wolfe. She passed away peacefully at home into eternity on October 27, 2024. Vicki leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, James H. Akins, her children, Jennifer A. Albert (Richard) and Ryan S. Akins (Dorothy), and five grandchildren, Ashlyn A. Nyman, Madisyn E. Albert, Olivia C. Akins, Allison E. Akins, and Owen R. Akins.
At 14, Vicki moved to Savannah when her father was transferred to Hunter Army Airfield. She attended Wilder and graduated from Jenkins High School in 1967. She continued her education at Georgia Southern and Armstrong State College. Vicki worked at Armstrong State, starting as a student worker and eventually serving as an executive secretary in several departments, and later in human resources. She worked there for 33 years before retiring in 2010.
Vicki met James on a blind date in April 1971, and they were married just three months later. They cherished each other in their 53 years together and made so many wonderful memories together. During those years, she used her creativity and eye for design when she and James started flipping homes—she had the vision and he had the skills to make them come to life. She had a love for crafting and created beautiful pieces that brought joy to those around her.
She was a kind and loving mother, daughter, and friend. Vicki had a passion for music, playing the piano, puppies, classic cars, UGA football, and interior design. Vicki was always thoughtful and selfless, putting others' happiness first.
She and James enjoyed their getaway home at Lake Sinclair, GA, for many years. They loved boating, fishing, feeding wildlife, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Vicki was loved by all who knew her, especially for her sense of humor and quick wit. We will miss her smile, infectious laugh, and warm hugs.
We will cherish and remember our Nana, Mom, Vicki for her kindness, positivity, and loving nature. We love you to Heaven and back.
The Family will receive friends for a visitation, Sunday November 10, 2024 at 1:00pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Hodgson Memorial Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, Georgia 31406. Followed by a 2:00pm Memorial Service.
