Tommie Ferman Tyler, 76, of Savannah, passed unexpectedily, Monday Oct. 24, 2016 at home.
He was born Oct 1, 1940, in Pulaski, Georgia, to Cleveland F. Tyler and Nellie Morris Tyler who preceded him in death.
Tommie is survived by his wife, Claudette F. Tyler, whom he married Dec. 19, 1959. Surviving also are two sons, T. Ferman Tyler (Ginger), grandson, Zachary; his second son, Mitchell J. Tyler, granddaughter, Chelsie Tyler and grandson, Austin J. Tyler, of the US Navy, a sister, Mildred Walker, and a nephew, Danny White.
Tommies interest and achievements were many and wide ranging. A Graduate of Georgia Southern University, and John Marshall University, School of Law, and the IAFE Institute of Fair Management.
He was awarded the professional designation "Certified Fair Executive, (CFE)" in 2008 by IAFE, becoming a Moderator Speaker holding seminars and workshops on the subject of Fair Management around the country.
He was a retired officer, having served in the U.S. Navy Civil Engineering Corps.
His last duty assignment: U.S. Navy Environmental Officer, Eastern Atlantic Seaboard/Southern Europe, having served as a Lieutenant, in the U. S. Civil Engineers Corps, of the Seabees.
He retired as President and CEO of C.F. Tyler Construction, Tyco Electric and Precision Systems Design Corporation.
He was a member and Past President of the Coastal Empire "Fair", and a member of the Fair Board, of the Exchange Club of Savannah, and still serves as a member of the Board of Directors. He is a member and on the Board of the Victor V. Jenkins Athletic Club.
Tommie found much joy with family, loved everyone and friends, and wood working was a life long passion. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
Visitation: Thursday, Oct 27, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Graveside Services: 11 a.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, with Rev. Bill Gardner, officiating.
Military Honors will be presented by members of the U.S. Navy.
Remembrances: Victor V. Jenkins Athletic Club, or a Charity of your choice.
