Timothy Stephen Furlong

d. June 24, 2017

Timothy Furlong, 72, a Savannah native and member of St. James Catholic Church, has become Our Heavenly Fathers newest and most skilled handyman after a long illness. Tim enjoyed spending time with his loving family, and found great satisfaction in helping others with odd jobs and handyman duties. He is a graduate of H. V. Jenkins high school in Savannah and after 40 years of service he retired from Hunter Army Airfield as a civil employee in the Department of Defense where he served as a carpenter and estimator. Prior to that, he served 2 years in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He also worked as a maintenance man for the Sisters of Mercy Convent located across from St. Joseph's hospital for over 30 years and continued to provide assistance as needed until shortly before his passing. Tim loved a cold Diet Coke and spending time with his brothers and sisters. Family and service were very important to him and he will missed by many. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Josephine Furlong. He is survived by his cherished wife of 45 years and best friend Nancy, his son and best buddy Stephen, and his daughter Laurie with his two loving grandchildren, Paisley and Wyatt Chase. Tim departs from his surviving 4 brothers and 2 sisters as well as countless nieces, nephews and cousins who called him their "favorite." Finally, he sadly leaves behind his favorite new toy, a red zero-turn Toro lawnmower that will always be used in remembrance of him.
Funeral services are scheduled to be at Baker McCullough Funeral Home/Chapel on 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive.
Viewing June 27th from 6-8 pm.
Remembrance service June 28th at 10 AM. Reception immediately following at Sisters of Mercy Convent at 11780 McAuley Drive, Savannah GA 31419.
