Thomas Michael Pruitt, 75, died Thursday, August 31, 2023, after a brief battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.
Tom was born on August 19, 1948 in Savannah, Georgia. He graduated from Jenkins High School in 1966 and was a member of the Air National Guard where he served as an aircraft mechanic in the 1960's. He was also a graduate of Southern Tech in Marietta, Georgia and Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Tom worked as a mechanical engineer for the US Navy in Panama City, Florida until he retired. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Panama City, Florida where he served as a greeter, a deacon, and a substitute teacher for many adult Sunday School Classes.
Tom was an avid reader, an inventor, a clockmaker, a cabinetmaker, and enjoyed making quilts with the Saint Andrews Bay Quilters' Guild and playing Bunco with his Bunco group.
Tom is survived by his two sisters, Gail Pruitt Baxley (Bruce), and Claire Pruitt Hodges (Don). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews and cousins. Tom leaves behind many friends in Panama City whom he considered family. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Caroline Pruitt.
A private burial will be held at Bonaventure Cemetery. A memorial service will be held later this month.
