Thomas Richard Morgan, Jr.
Age: 92 passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in the small town of Omro, Wisconsin to Tom and Ellen (Egan) Morgan, he left his hometown to pursue accounting interests at Marquette University and the University of Minnesota on the G.I. Bill after serving in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was offered a position with the federal government in San Francisco, CA and was quickly transferred to Honolulu, HI. Over the next five years, Tom traveled frequently to the Far East, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Macau, Bangkok, and Manila. In 1965, he transferred back to the San Francisco field office. His fortune continued as while playing tennis one weekend, he met a beautiful young woman from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who soon became his beloved wife, Theresa Sharon Newsham. This past February 19, they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
Tom and Sharon moved their family from California to Washington, D.C. to Madrid, Spain and back to Fairfax, Virginia before retiring to Savannah, GA in 1996. Tom loved traveling, gardening, and volunteering at Hospice of Savannah. He was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus and served as a Eucharistic minister at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist. He inherited his good humor from his loving mother, Ellen, and was always up for a good laugh and tease with his friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, his brother, Patrick, his three daughters Lisa (Robert) Sala, Kelley (Coleman) Myron, Rachel (Jack) Gaby and his five grandchildren Nicholas (Abby) Sala, Isabelle Sala, Sean Myron, Sarah Myron, and Corinne Gaby.
He was dearly loved by his family, and we will celebrate his life until we meet again in God’s loving arms. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 6 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, Savannah, GA.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his honor to the Hospice of Savannah.
