Thomas Ian Blackwelder, age 56, of Ludowici, GA passed away Friday, March 3, 2023.
Mr. Blackwelder was born in Savannah, GA on November 17, 1966, the son of C. Poe Blackwelder, Jr. and the late Judith Thornton Blackwelder. He attended Savannah Christian Preparatory School until upper school where he was a 1984 graduate of Memorial Day School. He continued his formal education at Wake Forest University. He worked with Mercedes-Benz for 20 years where he served as a Master Technician. Thomas was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he was active with the church choir. His love for music and motorcycles created connections and friendships that will last lifetimes.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Blackwelder was preceded in death by his brother, David Milton Blackwelder. He is survived by his wife, Debby Griggs; her daughter, Samantha Griggs; sons, Zachary Ian Blackwelder (Rebecca Ashe Blackwelder) and Dylan Reece Blackwelder; father, C. Poe Blackwelder, Jr. (Sherrill Ann Chambliss Blackwelder); brothers, Stephen Poe Blackwelder (Mindy McNeely) and James Matthew Blackwelder (Gretta Blackwelder); and grandchildren, Lincoln Joel Blackwelder and Margaret Ann Blackwelder.
Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with a private Celebration of Thomas’ Life.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 7375 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
