Thomas W. Coover, age 92, of Savannah passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020.

Mr. Coover was born on February 27, 1928 in Holly Springs, Iowa, the son of the late Ralph and Edna Coover. He was a graduate of Holly Springs High School and continued his formal education at Armstrong Junior College. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked for many years with Amoco Oil Co. where he retired as a Purchasing Agent and later served as the Transportation and Facilities Manager of Savannah Christian Preparatory School. He was a longtime member of Bull Street Baptist Church where he was active with the Nelson Sunday School Class and served as a Deacon. He was also a member of Frank F. Baker Lodge #46, F. & A.M.’s and the Scottish Rite Consistory – Valley of Savannah. Outside of work and civic involvement, he enjoyed woodworking, bowling, and working on automobiles.

Mr. Coover was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Coover; brothers, True, Howard,and Orlie Coover; and sisters, Nina Martinsen, June Folkers, and Janice Dahl. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Coover; daughters, Cherilyn Franklin (Wayne) and Donna Swanson (Dick); sister, Joyce Swalley; grandchildren,Thomas W. Hurst (Katlyn) and Amy Diggs (Matthew); and 3 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2020 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Greenwich Cemetery.
