Theodus Roosevelt Shannon, age 83, of Savannah, Georgia passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
Theodus was born November 1, 1940 to Charlie and Nina Bell Shannon in Pasquotank County (Elizabeth City) North Carolina. He attended Salem Baptist Church in Weeksville where he gave his life to Christ. As a child he was boy scout and as he got older he wanted to serve our country and joined the United States Army in February 1957. He traveled the world and attained the rank of 1 st Sergeant spending a total of 28 years in the military and then went on to work Civil Service as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor/Director for 22 years at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Air Field.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Nina Bell Shannon, brothers Charlie Shannon Jr., Selvie Shannon, Rudolph Shannon, Curtis Shannon, sister Barbara Jean Twine and grandson Denzell Jordan.
He leaves behind his wife Vanessa Shannon, brothers Hercules Shannon of Elizabeth City NC and Herman Shannon of Poughkeepsie NY, sisters Margaret Ferrell of Killeen TX, Albritha Fells of Detroit MI, Pamela Shannon of Poughkeepsie NY, children Reginald Shannon of San Antonio TX, Roderick Shannon (Lorraine) of Harker Heights TX, Renate Shannon of Killeen TX, Rochelle Shannon of Lancaster TX, Timothy Shannon of Cape Canaveral FL, Terry Shannon (Lauren) of Melbourne FL and Travis Shannon of Little Rock, AR. He had 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will be receiving friends 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406.
A funeral service will follow visitation and will begin at 2:00 p.m.
