Thelma Fay Sykes passed away peacefully on August 17, 2017 after a short battle with lung cancer.  Friends and Family knew her as "Fay" was born on March 11, 1936 in Wilmington, NC.  After marrying the love of her life Bill, they later moved to Garden City, GA.  Fay loved living in Garden City and loved all the friends she made there.  She attended the Garden City Baptist Church and the Woodlawn Baptist Church.  Upon Bills retirement they traveled and later settled in Hendersonville, NC; where they lived for 25 years before returning to Springfield, GA to be closer to her family.

While living in Garden City, Fay worked for Carey Hilliards on Highway 80 and Rupert Hellers and retired from The Home Depot in Hendersonville, NC.

Fay is preceded in death by her mother, Eula Hall; sister, Linda K. Sewell; and her husband, Bill Sykes who passed away March 24, 2017.

She is survived by sons, Billy Sykes (Amber) of Brunswick, GA, Bobby Sykes (Liz) of Rincon, GA, David Sykes (Katie) of Dallas, TX, John Sykes of Savannah, GA (former daughter-in-law, Ruth Sykes of Macon, GA), Dennis Wills (Ginger) of Rincon, GA; and daughter, Terry Terry (Tommy) of Guyton, GA; 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, niece, Sara White and her family of Enterprise, AL and former brother-in-law, Harry Dean of AL whom Fay loved deeply; sister-in-law, Grace Millet and her daughters, Diane, Debbie and Donna.

Fays family was the love of her life.  Fay was such an amazing mom, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, wife and will be missed more than words can say, our hearts are so saddened by the loss of our mother.

A memorial service to honor our mom will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Riverview Nursing Home; Karen her loving nurse at Riverview and the loving staff from Affinis Hospice for their care for our mom during her difficult time.
