Terry Herbert Jernigan, 68, of Savannah, passed away Monday, July 3rd, 2017 at Candler Hospital.
Terry was born in Savannah on July 17th, 1948 to Herbert Ishmael Jernigan and Selma Sills Jernigan. A graduate of Savannah High School, he worked for Fuller Oldsmobile in Savannah in the 1970's and was a tuner for Fuller's Factory 442 stock car. He worked as a mechanic with the United States Postal Service from mid-1980 to the present. An avid Drag Racing enthusiast (NHRA), he was interested in all classes, but particulary liked Stock and Super Stock racing. Very talented at tuning vehicles and all aspects of mechanics, he also enjoyed listening to racing on XM Satellite radio. Drag racing was his passion!
Terry was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Pamela Jernigan; a brother, Chet Jernigan and his wife Kelly; sisters Gail Hughes and Janice Bunch; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 7th, 2017 from 11 am to 1 pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Bonaventure Chapel with Funeral Services to follow at 1:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel, the Reverend Rob Grotheer officiating. Interment: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
