Susanne Winn Jonas passed away Monday March 27th 2023 at the age of 75.
Susanne was born November 29,1947 in Savannah Georgia to Lucius Laricy Winn and Edna Mae Roger's. She was a graduate of Savannah High School in class of 1965 and attend X-ray technology program at Emery University. She retired after 43 years as director of Radiation Oncology from Memorial Medical Center helping build the Anderson Cancer Institute and later becoming a Certified Tumor Registar working part time from home for the Cancer Registry.
While attending Emery and living in Atlanta she met married the love of her life Stephen DuBois Jonas on February 21, 1970 in Clarksville Ga. She was the first certified female volunteer firefighter in Georgia on the Isle of Hope where they raise their two children in there forever home. She was a dedicated member of IOH Church and later White Bluff Presbyterian serving in the choir, hand bells, and other various administrative tasks. Other organizations she was a part of included Girl Scouts of America, Emmaus, Daughters of the American Revolution, American Red Cross Disaster Action Team including providing aid in the 9/11 tragedy in NYC. Lastly, she was involved with the Coastal Amateur Radio Society as call sign W4SWJ.
Susanne is survived by her son, Stephen Daniel Jonas (Holly); two great granddaughters, Ava (6), Zoe (4) of Savannah; daughter, Annie (Riley); three grandchildren Addison (15), Hollis (11), Waylon (2) of Buckhead, GA.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. March 31, 2023 at White Bluff Presbyterian Church, 10710 White Bluff Rd #4, Savannah, GA 31406.
A graveside inurnment will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery.
