Surendra Ramanbhai Patel, 70, of Savannah, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. He was born on July 20, 1947 in Kampala, Uganda. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Shila Patel, his daughter, Alisha Patel, her husband, Ameet Shah; a son, Amar Patel, and a grandson, Aden Shah.
Surendra attended boarding school at the Colonel Brown Cambridge School in Dehra Dun, India followed by earning his Bachelors of Electrical Engineering degree from Allahabad University in 1967. He moved to Canada in 1972 and then the United States in 1978, settling in Roanoke Rapids, NC. There he co-founded Naman Hotels, a family-owned hotel investment company. He moved to Savannah in 1994 where he became a prominent member of the Indian community. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed cooking, and was passionate about family, photography and travel.
