Sue Ellen Walters

Sue Ellen Williams Walters died peacefully on August 24, 2023 at Signature Healthcare of Savannah at the age of 81. She was born February 12, 1942, in Screven County, Georgia to Cecil Heyward Williams and Park Peel Williams. Sue’s birth mother passed away when she was 4 years old. She was raised by her father and mother Neda Saxon Williams. She grew up in Screven County and attended local schools. She graduated from Screven County High School. After High School, she moved to Savannah where she lived until her passing.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Walters; birth mother, Park Peel Williams; father, Cecil H. Williams; mother, Neda Saxon Williams; brother, Jan Kirby Williams; sister, Mertice Ann Williams Wessel; and sisterin law, Lois Williams.

Sue was an active member of the Laurel Chapter of Eastern Star until her health prevented her participation. As an active member of Eastern Star, she held many offices including Worthy Matron.

Sue worked for Lawyer’s Title Insurance Corporation and retired from there in 2005.

She is survived by a son, Brian Keith Walters of Marietta; her brother, Jerry K. Williams (Carolyn) of Savannah; and brother-in-law, Donald K. Wessel of Dothan AL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who remember her fondly.

Graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Abbey West, 1336 Dean Forest Road, Savannah, GA 31405 on Monday, August 28, at 10:30 a.m. with The Rev’d Drew Collins officiating.

Order of Eastern Star Service will be conducted at the graveside by her sisters of Laurel Chapter No. 51.
