Steven Walter Britton

January 8, 1943 — February 28, 2023

Steven Walter Britton, 80, of Savannah, GA, passed away on February 28, 2023, after a short illness.

Steve was born on January 8, 1943, to Walter and Brunelle Britton in Hemingway, SC. Steve grew up helping tend to his parents farm, learning the value of hard, honest work that would serve him all his life. After Steve graduated from Hemingway High School in 1961, he went to work at Baxter Corporation and enlisted in the Army National Guard before going on to study English at Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, TN.

After graduating from Trevecca in 1969 he worked first in Nashville, then in Georgetown, SC teaching high school English, before moving to Savannah, GA. He began a long career with Colonial Oil and Interstate/Enmark, where he worked as a truck driver, in their human resources group, as a station manager, and as a regional supervisor. He worked for the Colonial Enmark group for over 30 years.

In 1992, Steve met the love of his life, Ann Renaldo, through mutual friends. Steve and Ann were married in 1993 and were approaching 30 years of blissful marriage.

In 2010, Steve retired and spent his time doting on his family, keeping up with his extensive list of friends, and feeding the fish and fowl that thrive outside his home.

Steve was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Brunelle Britton, and Ann’s parents, Clyde and Louise Cleland. He is survived by his wife Ann, his son Kent (Angie), daughter Shannon Edwards (Randy), brother Tommy Britton (Cathy), and sister Nell Britton (Jay Schaefer); and Ann’s children Michael Renaldo (Jana) and Cindy Richey (Mark). Steve and Ann also had 10 grandchildren – Zach and Tanner Britton; Sarah Beth, Spencer and Emma Edwards; Wesley and Ethan Richey and MacKenzie Carroll (Isaiah); Mariah and Kelsey Renaldo; and one great-grandchild, Haisley Carroll.
