Stella M. Wilkes

Mrs. Stella Mae Layne Wilkes, 89, of Garden City, GA, died Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Jasper, Tennessee, but lived in Garden City, GA for the majority of her life. She was a long time member of the former Sharon Park Church of God.

She was devoted to the Lord, her husband, and her family.

She was predeceased by her father, Albert A. Layne Sr; mother, Emma Layne; brother, Albert A. Layne, Jr.; son, Ernie Ashcraft; daughter, Brenda Davis.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Chester G. Wilkes, of Garden City, GA; daughters: Rita Buck (Marion), Patty Garland (Curtis); grandchildren: Shannon Campbell (Brian), Gary Davis (Staci), Steven Bell (April), Joshua Garland, James Buck, MD Buck, Denise Ashcraft, Jodie Bates; brother and sisters: Helen Asbell, Thelma Goodman (Roy), Kenneth Layne (Delores); 13 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, helped raise, and taught her strong love of the Lord. Shannon Campbell, Gary Davis, Steven Bell, Joshua Garland, James Buck, MD Buck, Michael Campbell.

Visitation: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Garden City Chapel.

Funeral Services: 1:00 pm Saturday, November 3, 2018 in the Baker McCullough Funeral Home, with interment in Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery directly after.
