Shirley Youmans, age 79, of Savannah passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022 after a brief illness.
Miss Youmans was born May 1, 1943 in Norristown, Georgia. She lived in and around Savannah her entire life. While she never married or had children of her own, she devoted her life to caring for her parents and an ill sister and was a loving aunt to three nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She began her career with National Linen and also worked for Liberty National Bank and Merrill Lynch. She retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital where she worked as a cashier in patient accounts. She was a member of Dean Forest Baptist Church and a prior member of Silk Hope Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ephraim Elmo Youmans and Clyde Bunn Youmans, and her twin sister, Mrs. Shirlene Owens. Miss Youmans is survived by her sister, Algie Lee Simons; a brother-in-law, Larry Owens; and nephews, Alton (Lisa) Simons, Robert (Debra) Simons, and Kevin (Sheri-Lyn) Owens.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at Dean Forest Baptist Church (1524 Dean Forest Rd. Savannah, GA 31408). Interment will occur at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery (10 Mt. Zion Church Rd. Adrian, GA 31002).
