Shirley Ann Cooler Shuman of Savannah passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 31, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was 86 years old.

Born on June 5, 1938 in Hardeeville, South Carolina to Lester Moore Cooler and Nell Cooler Nichols, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Loderick Arnold Shuman, Sr., and her sisters Willie Mae Bryan and Doris Malphrus.

Shirley is survived by her children Loderick Shuman Jr, Teresa Strickland (Robert), Braderick Shuman (Karen), Denna Shuman, Denise O'Connell (Danny), and Darrell Shuman and literally too many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren to count.

Married to her husband for 69 years, Shirley devoted her life to raising her large family. A stalwart matriarch, the Shuman family backyard was a hub for family, friends, and neighbors to celebrate life, often taking the fish fries to Butter Bean Beach and Skidaway State Park for fishing, crabbing, and the occasional tall boy.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406).

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406).

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens (315 Greenwich Rd. Savannah, GA 31404).
