Shirley Hinely Hodge, 89, of Savannah, Georgia, died Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Azalealand Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born in Savannah, Georgia, on July 5, 1932. She was retired from a long tenure as Administrative Assistant at Hancock Day School, where her warmth and commitment to children, parents, teachers, and administrators were deeply appreciated by all. Mrs. Hodge expressed her creativity through paintings, cards, and poems, as well as cooking and hospitality. Her life was centered on her unwavering love for her husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family. She was a long-time member of Southside Baptist Church. Mrs. Hodge was a graduate of Savannah High School and attended Mercer University and Armstrong State College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Marion Hodge III, and by her parents, Eunice and J. D. Hinely. Mrs. Hodge is survived by her sister, Carol H. Shupe (Jimmy), sons, Michael M. Hodge (Carleen) and Dennis S. Hodge (Susan), four grandsons, Zachary, Joshua, Micah, and Jason, and by eight great-grandchildren.

Family will be receiving friends Thursday, September 2 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, September 3 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
The Funeral Service will follow at 12 p.m. in the Baker McCullough Chapel.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 315 Greenwich Rd, Savannah, GA 31404.
