Shirley Maid Pierce. Born May 13, 1925 passed away March 22, 2017. Preceded in death by her husband Deacon Ray Pierce. Shirley leaves 7 children, 13 grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren. Shirley was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Port Wentworth, GA., since 1979. Shirley & Ray started the Cursillo program in Savannah. Shirley served many years with the prison ministry. Shirley was always happiest "in prayer", whether praying for or praying with others. Shirley was the a Spiritual Assistant for Savannah Hospice, and served for 12 years. Shirley was an aide at Savannah's Memorial Hospital for 5 yrs. Shirley always wanted to stay active so she enjoyed several years of water aerobics at the Pooler Senior Citizens facility. Shirley also had another "love", she loved the ocean! Shirley felt blessed to have her family together in Tybee at the Bishop's Cottage,where she could walk to the beach to see a sunrise with her daughter, attend morning Mass at St. Michael's and then spend the day surrounded by her family. Memorial Service will be Friday, March 31, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Catholic Charities or Hospice of Savannah.
