SFC (Retired) Edwin (Ed) Charles McCarthy II, 65, of Savannah and husband of Molly McCarthy, died Tuesday, November 15th, 2016 at Hospice Savannah.
He was born on November 7, 1951 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Edwin McCarthy and Reva McCarthy.
Edwin served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam and continued his career in the Army for 21 years as a photo/journalist. Several tours across the US, Germany, and Korea. After the Army he retired a second time from LabCorp. As a member of White Bluff Presbyterian Church he served as an Elder and Deacon. He also helped in reactivating the church's Boy Scout Troop 30 and Cub Scout Pack 30. He also served on many committees with Boy Scouts of America in the Coastal Georgia Council. He earned the Silver Beaver Award for his service to BSA.
Survivors include his wife, Molly Ann Crawford McCarthy; daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Sheppard; son, Eric McCarthy and his wife Sandra; grandchildren, Dylan, Michael, and Kayla; sister, Sandra Burch; several nieces and nephews, as well as several great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, November 18, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 19th, in White Bluff Presbyterian Church, with burial to take place at 10:00am, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Arlington National Cemetery, with full military honors.
