Sara Peacock Gilmore, age 84, of Savannah passed away Monday, January 15, 2024 at home with family by her side after a long illness with Alzheimer’s.
Sara, a native of Savannah, GA was born on August 12, 1939, the daughter of the late Polly Slade Peacock and William Russell Peacock, Sr. She was a 1959 graduate of Commercial High School. She worked with her husband, “CRAZY JACK” at Crazy Jacks Records & Tapes (1972 – 1979) on Derenne Ave. They later opened Crazy Jacks Shoe Repair which has been in business for 44 years and continues as The Original Crazy Jacks & Grandson Shoe Repair on E. Montgomery Crossroad.
Sara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, John H. “CRAZY JACK” Gilmore. She is survived by her son, Johnny Gilmore of Savannah, GA; daughter, Terri G. Painter (Darren) of Savannah, GA; brother, William R. Peacock, Jr. (Charlene); grandchildren, Travis J. Painter of Savannah, GA, Brandon B. Painter of Seneca, SC, Katie Gier Waters of Acworth, GA, Daphanie Gilmore of Bloomingdale, GA; niece, Tanya & Dave Hoxie; nephew, Shane Peacock; and great grandchildren, Kali Painter, Luke Waters, Noah Waters, and Tatum Waters.
A private graveside funeral service will be held at Bonaventure Cemetery for family and close friends.
