Mrs. Luxenberg was a graduate of the Laboratory Technology School at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL, and worked for many years as a laboratory technologist and blood banker.
Mrs. Luxenberg was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, and homemaker, and greatly enjoyed raising and caring for her family. She was a former president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology, active in the MCG Faculty Wives Club, and a member of the Country Club Hills Garden Club. Mrs. Luxenberg appreciated many types of music, especially live performances, and over the years enjoyed playing piano, guitar and harp. She had a large vegetable garden for cooking and filled the yard with flowers. She played tennis often with her friends and used her talent for sewing to create a line of tennis shirts. She travelled widely, treasuring many wonderful trips with her husband and family. Mrs. Luxenberg cared greatly for the family dogs, and at one point led a state campaign to raise awareness about the importance of rabies vaccinations. She also supported community initiatives for women’s health and mental health programs. Most of all, she cherished time with her family, especially at Tybee Island, which was her favorite place to be. She advocated tirelessly for the conservation of Tybee and the Georgia coast.
