Sandra Louise Blissett, age 81, died on June 4, 2023, while a resident at Cadence Marietta Memory Care in Marietta, Georgia.
Sandra was born on March 8, 1942 in Savannah, Georgia to the late Charles "Bo"; Elton Blissett, Sr. and Ethel Skinner Blissett. She cared for her parents until their deaths.
Sandra lived in Savannah and Garden City, Georgia. She graduated from Groves High School in 1960. She then attended Savannah State College and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in accounting. Sandra was employed by the Corp of Engineers as an accountant for many years. Even after retirement, she continued to enjoy the oyster roasts they sponsored at Travis Field.
Sandra loved many outdoor activities during her lifetime: fishing, crabbing, gardening and working in her yard. She played the piano beautifully. We especially enjoyed listening to her play the boogie-woogie! Her favorite music to play and sing were church hymns. She loved the hymns that had been sung in churches for many years. Sandra also loved vacationing with her mother and father. She often included her niece and nephew (Kimberly and Ladd Blissett) with her parents. Vacations were always in the mountains or at the beach! Sandra went on several cruises with her friends. She enjoyed volunteering as a candy striper at Candler Hospital, a guide at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Pooler, GA and as an usher for events at the Savannah Civic Center - Johnny Mercer Theatre. Sandra loved cats and cared for many different ones throughout her lifetime.
Sandra was a member of First Baptist Church of Garden City and was a member of the Lydian Sunday School Class.
Sandra was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Larry Thomas Blissett and her nephew Larry "Ladd"; Thomas Blissett, II.
Survivors include her brother Charles "Charlie" Elton Blissett, Jr. (Sondra Walea Blissett); niece Kimberly Blissett Gatch (Louis Gatch); great-nephews and great-niece, Harrison Chandler Gatch (Rachel Mason Gatch), Abigaile Katelyn Gatch, Langston Chase Gatch; and many cousins.
