Sadie Bevill Gattmann, 91, went to be with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, on May 28, 2018 at Spanish Oaks Retreat after a long battle with Alzheimer's

She was born May 14, 1927 in Savannah, GA to the late Frank and Sadie Bevill. She was married to William R. Gattmann, her childhood sweetheart, on September 20, 1946.

Sadie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed caring for her family, her home, cooking, baking, sewing, and doing crafts. She especially loved spending time with her family. She was known to her family and friends as a compassionate listener and spent many hours providing comfort.

She was a longtime member of Morningside Baptist Church where she served as secretary and treasurer of the Faithful Workers Sunday school class.

Sadie was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, her parents, and her great granddaughter Vivian Byrd.

She is survived by her son Bill Gattmann and his wife Karen of Duluth, GA, her daughter Patricia Sumner and her husband John of Savannah, GA, her granddaughter Kelly (Kristoff) Byrd of Duluth, GA, grandson Rusty (Mollie) of Decatur, GA, great-grandchildren, Liam and Ava Byrd, Hayes Gattmann, and expectant great granddaughter Ryan Gattmann, her sister Barbara Vickery of Colbert, GA, her lifelong friend, Clarice Shuman of Savannah, GA and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Spanish Oaks Retreat and Hospice for the loving care given to their mother.

Visitation will be from 6 pm to 8pm on May 31st at Baker McCullough Funeral Home 7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr. Savannah, GA. 31406.  Service will be at 11 am on June 1st in the chapel at Baker McCullough Funeral Home with internment immediately following at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
