Ruth Earldine Hand Parrish, 82, passed away peacefully during the night in the home of her loving family on September 24, 2022.
She was born in Matthews, GA, the daughter of Rev. Ira Jehu Hand, Sr, and Rhodie Bell Johns Hand. She lived most of her life in Savannah, GA before moving to Bluffton, SC in 2006. Her relentless love for God and for children were the guiding forces of her life. She was an active children’s ministry volunteer for decades at Coastal Cathedral in Savannah and also worked as an in-home caretaker, a preschool teacher, and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Preston Royd Parrish, Sr, her infant daughter, Amy LaTrelle Parrish, her father and mother, her brothers, Rufus Earl Hand, Ira Jehu Hand, Jr, Lucius Delton Hand, Sr, and Thomas Edsel Hand, and her sisters-in-love, Lily Hand, Sandra Hand, and Janie Hand.
She is survived by her daughter, Schaunell Parrish Hart, her son, Rev. Preston Royd Parrish II, her daughter-in-love, Beverly Jean Rish Parrish, her honorary daughter-in-love, Linda Faye Rish, her brother, Rev. Marcus V. Hand, her sister-in-love, Dee Hand, her brother-in-love, Marion Ray Parrish; her grandchildren, Taryn Amy Hart, Christopher Robert Hart, Isabelle Krista Hart, Chloe Sophia Parrish, Preston Royd Parrish III, Landon Fredrick Hampton, Nevaeh Cheyenne Hampton, and her great-grandchildren, Dakota Marie Hart, Ivory Ruth Akins, Camellia Everest Hart, and Raine Ruth Rivera-Hart.
A visitation will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr in Savannah, GA, followed by services at 12:30 PM with Reverend Delton Hand, Jr and Reverend Preston Royd Parrish II presiding.
The interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 12:00 p.m.
