Ruby Georgia Smith (Johns) of Garden City entered into Glory on 7 September, 2022 after a prolonged illness.
Ruby lived her life completely in the service of others, especially her children and generations of cherished grandchildren. Her vocational calling came to her in her middle years in the form of serving as a respiratory therapist for over 20 years at both Memorial and Saint Joseph’s hospitals. She found her fulfillment in the love and tender care of others, most especially the love of her life, W.A. Smith (AKA Smithy, GrandDub, Smithereens) who preceded her in death.
Also preceded by her parents, Theo Johns and Pauline Moore Johns Hiott, her stepfather Allen C. Hiott, her sons Davy and Charlie Saxon, their father David Eugene Saxon, and her brothers Pat and Max Johns.
She is survived by her son Patrick (Lisa) Saxon of Rincon, her sister Ida Gail Elliott of Garden City, Daughter in Law Peggy Saxon of Eden, grandsons John (Becky) Saxon, Little Davy Saxon, Patrick Saxon, granddaughters Jennifer Saxon King, Jessi (Johnny) Hodges, Lindsay (Joey) Harris, Ali (Jonathan) Tirey and Mattie Saxon, great grandchildren Anderson and Colin Hodges, Chaz Coovert and Jordan Saxon, Katelyn and Anthony King, Abby Harris, Cameron Buechner, Jonah and Livi Tirey, and Will Saxon, and special nephews Reuben and Paul (Claire) Elliott, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She drank from the Living Water of Jesus, and thirsts no more.
