Ruby Hendricks Rahn, 93, died of complications from a stroke, at home on Saturday, January 28, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
As the youngest of 11 children, she was born at home in Daisy, Ga and moved to Savannah at the age of three.
Ruby was a proud homemaker, a founding member of Ferguson Avenue Baptist Church and an avid photographer. She chronicled her life and the history of her beloved church family through her tens of thousands of photographs.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Louis A. Rahn, Sr.; eldest son Alfred Rahn, Jr.; parents: Bealy Edgar and Willie Eva Walling Hendricks; six brothers, Theodore "Ted", Edgar, Howard, Milton, Perry, and Coy Hendricks; Four sisters Gussie Barnard Easterling, Bertie Lee, Mary Cook, and
Gladys Floyd Bushee;
Surviving are two sons, John Edgar Rahn (Margaret Ellen) and Bruce Thomas Rahn (Sissy)both of Savannah; daughter Brenda Rahn Waters (Billy) Isle of Wight, Midway, and daughter-in-law Barbara Rahn of Savannah. Ten grandchildren, Sarona Weyant (Scott), Nina Chernyak (Mikhail), Phillip Zaner,
Cherrie Kramer (Robbie), Eddie Rahn, Janice Stanford (Kelvin), Cathy Lane (Tim),Melinda Waters, Ross Rahn, Keith Rahn. Fourteen great-grandchildren Cole, Torrie, Faith, David, Sofia, Tara, Austin (Lindsay), Anna, Kara (Patrick), Kristen, Allison (Tim), David, Nikole, Marcus, and three great-great-grandchildren Brecken, Tage and Uriah; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday, January 30, 2017 at Baker-McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel on Hodgson Memorial Drive.
A Funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at her beloved Ferguson Avenue Baptist Church, 10050 Ferguson Avenue, with Pastor Bob Dimmitt and Pastor Roy Graves officiating.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey East.
