Roy C. Yawn, age 81, of Savannah passed away Friday, August 5, 2022.
Mr. Yawn was born in Hazlehurst, Georgia on April 17, 1941 to the late Lince Fort Yawn and the late Velma Strickland Yawn. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a former police officer in Brunswick, Georgia. Before retirement, Mr. Yawn worked as a machine operator with International Paper. Mr. Yawn loved the outdoors; he especially loved to go fishing and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and he also enjoyed telling stories.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Yawn was preceded in death by his sons, Brian Yawn & Matthew Yawn; granddaughter, Dallas Lawrence; sister, Helen Stone; brother, Raymond Yawn; and son-in-law, Kelly Ford.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Yawn; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie & Christine Yawn; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay & Greg Royal, Cindi & Kevin Holton, Christy & Tim Bryant, and Gerri Ford; son, Jimmy Lawrence; and grandchildren, Justin (Casey) Shuman, Kyle Royal, Eric (Aerial) Royal, Emily (Will) Sherburne, Kelsey (Allen) Monzon, Brent Yawn, Brianne Yawn, Kaya Yawn, Skyler Yawn, Jacob (Melissa) Lawrence, Tamera (Jackie) Frazier, Tony Bryant, Danielle Bryant, Brody Ford, and Shelby Ford. Fifteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406).
