On Tuesday, August 22, 2023 Rothell Pierce MacMillan passed away at NHC Healthcare in Anderson SC.
He was born on June 19,1944 in Savannah, GA. His parents were Francis (Frank)Pierce and Merle Floyd MacMillan.
“Rock” was preceded in death by his brother William (Bill) MacMillan and sister Darlene MacMillan Tilton.
Rockey was a 1962 graduate of Herschel V Jenkins High School. He joined the Georgia National Guards headquarter battery in 1962 and served for 6 years. He began his career as a pipefitter with Local 188 and joined his family business at Alloy Welding, later known as Alloy Industrial Contractors, Inc. Rockey later became a partner and eventual owner of Grist Equipment in Garden City. After many years of serving the industrial community needs, he retired to Anderson, SC to be closer to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons - Brandon MacMillan (Susan)of Liberty, SC and Pierce MacMillan of Germany; former wife Melinda Meeks MacMillan; 4 grandchildren - Ethan, Andy, Ryan, and Sarah MacMillan of Liberty, SC; brothers -Danny MacMillan (Linda) of Savannah, GA, Kelly (Christine) of Newington, GA: sisters- Frances MacMillan Martin (Bill) and Marilyn MacMillan of Savannah, GA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 at 6PM at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel with Rev. Dusty Reynolds officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4pm until the time of the service.
