Ronnie Keith Harrelson, age 65, of Savannah passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023.
Ronnie was born in Chatham county on October 11, 1957 to the late Jack Evelyn Harrelson and the late Peggy Anne Findley Moore. He attended Savannah Chatham public schools. He graduated from Herschel V. Jenkins High School. He attended Floyd Junior College in Rome, GA from 1982-1985. He transferred to Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Deaf education in 1988. Ronnie worked for Goodwill Industries in Charlotte, NC for several years and then moved back to Savannah where he was employed by Life. He also was an ASL teacher under GACHI.
Ronnie loved the Lord and devoted his life to serve him and the service of others. Ronnie was a former member of Central Christian Church and also attended West Chatham Church.
Ronnie loved his family. He adored his two precious grandchildren. Ronnie also loved being outside where he loved to kayak with his kayaking buddies. Ronnie was also a certified scuba diver and loved diving in the Florida Keys, Florida springs and the quarries.
Survivors include son, Lucas Harrelson and his wife, Valarie Harrelson; grandchildren, Mateo Harrelson and Miguel Harrelson of Cape Coral, FL; sister, Angela Denmark and husband Mallie (Mark) Denmark of Richmond Hill, GA; step-father, Edward Moore of Savannah, GA; step-brother, Greg Moore of Daytona, FL; one niece, one nephew, one great niece and one great nephew: several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at West Chatham Baptist Church (1360 S Rogers St, Pooler, GA 31322).
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to West Chatham Baptist Church (1360 S Rogers St, Pooler, GA 31322), Central Christian Church (6810 Skidaway Rd, Savannah, GA 31406), Cancer Society and Georgia Center of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (GCDHH). or a charity of your choice.
