Mr. Ronald Lamont Daughtry, Sr. was the fourth child born to the late George W. Daughtry and the late Thelma Cooper Daughtry, on December 8, 1948 in Savannah Georgia.
Ronald was educated in the public schools of Chatham County and he graduated from A.E. Beach High School in 1967. He was a defensive back on the football team and was especially proud of a recognition he received in home economics class. This may be where his love of cooking began.
Ronald retired as a boiler room technician from GAF Corporation after 21 years of service. After retirement, he became a driver, then a driver safety instructor for Teleride.
Ronald was affectionately known as "Papa D" and "GAB". He was generous, caring, loving, had a great sense of humor, and was the most hospitable person you would ever meet.
Ronald and Alexis were married in 1970. To this union, two children were born. Prior to their marriage, Mr. Daughtry Sr. had one daughter. He had a deep love for his family. After studying the bible with Jehovah's Witnesses, Mr. Daughtry Sr. dedicated his life to Jehovah on January 7, 2012. He was zealous in his ministry until he became ill. He remained faithful until his death on June 7th, 2017.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Ronald leaves to cherish his memory to the love of his life, Alexis Smith Daughtry of 46 years, one son Ronald Lamont Daughtry Jr. (Laquetta), two daughters; Aisha Leeks (Michael), and Tolandra Daughtry. Seven grandchildren; Craig, Jacquell, Malasha, Ashleigh, Chance, Antonio, and Chasen. Two sister; Georgetta Dempsey and Regina Thomas (Ervin). Six Brothers -in- Law, Six Sisters -in- Law, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and many, many, friends.
