SAVANNAH - Ronald L. "Ron" Weaver, 82, passed away at home Saturday, October 8, 2016, after battling Parkinson's disease for years. As Hurricane Matthew roared in, Ron peacefully passed away.

Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Weaver of Mesa, AZ, and one sister, Evelyn Grimaldi of Melbourne, FL.

He was a native of Hornell, New York. At age 19 he joined the Air Force and served as an aircraft mechanic from 1953-57, followed by college on the GI bill. Ron graduated from the University of Florida with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for 32 years at Union Camp's Savannah Plant (now International Paper). After retiring at age 62, he enjoyed flying his plane, shooting skeet at the gun club, traveling and taking cruise vacations.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Martha; sons Chris Weaver (Julie) of Rougemont, NC, and Stephen Weaver (Jill) of Savannah, GA; grandson Keller Weaver and granddaughter Peyton Weaver (NC) and granddaughters Skyler and Logan Weaver (GA). Also surviving are Ron's sisters Helen Kerr of Bath, NY, and Doris Baker of Tigard, OR., along with numerous nieces and nephews that he also loved dearly.

No memorial service is planned and internment will be private.
