Roland William Brettin, 89, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, February 7, 2022.
He was born January 18, 1933 in Renville, Minnesota to the late Bernice L. Kraeger Brettin and Roland Marvin Brettin.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He served in Korea and Vietnam during his career, achieving the rank of Tech. Sergeant before retiring. While stationed at Hunter Army Air Field, he met the love of his life Vera Mae Sharpe and the two were married July 2, 1954 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Together, they raised four children in a Christian household and were active in church. They were members of Victory Baptist Church where Mr. Brettin was an active Deacon.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Richard Wayne Brettin and a sister, Joann Snyder.
Surviving are his wife, Vera Brettin; son, David Lee Brettin (Angie); daughters, Sheila Brettin Webster (Herbert) and Sherry Brettin Webster (Justy); daughter-in-law, Tamara K. Brettin; brother, Gerald Brettin; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on February 19, 2022 at Victory Baptist Church, 1815 E Montgomery Crossroad, Savannah, Ga at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Victory Baptist Church or your favorite charity.
