Roberta H. Stall passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Azalealand Nursing Home in Savannah, GA at the age of 89. Roberta was born on April 19, 1931 in a farmhouse near Pembroke, GA. Her parents were Robert Hall, Sr. and Mildred Hall. She was one of nine brothers and sisters. Although she was a child of the Great Depression, she and her family did not feel poor because they were rich in spirit, a loving family that “pulled together.”
Eventually, Roberta and her family moved to Savannah, GA in 1945. She attended Commercial High School, graduating in 1948. For two years she worked as a secretary, first with the Children’s Council, and later with the Central of Georgia Railroad.
Then, in 1950 she met and married Irvin E. Stall. Leaving her secretarial career behind, Roberta now devoted her life to being a full-time homemaker, providing a loving home for her new husband and the three children that were to follow.
Along the way, she was active in the community as a member of First Christian Church, as a volunteer with the Savannah Little Theater and as a local fashion model. Beginning in the late 1960’s, Roberta began assisting her husband in putting on cooking shows that taught people how to properly cook with a new household appliance, the microwave oven, which her husband sold as an Amana Appliance Salesman in Southeast Georgia. She was known as “Radarange Roberta.” Throughout her adult years Roberta was also an avid and award-winning ballroom dancer.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, her parents, and all eight of her siblings, including two brothers, Johnny Hall and Robert Hall, Jr., and six sisters, Vera Hall, Katie Lee Bacon, Mary Mull, Mildred “Midge” McCain, Marilyn Miller and Jewel Colquitt. She is survived by her three children, sons, Steven Stall and Mark Stall, and daughter Stacy Wills (Dan), grandchildren Stephen Wills, Taylor Wills and Chloe Wills, and great-grandchildren Tara Wills, Paige Wills, Molly Wills and Drew Wills, along with numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral arrangements are as follows: Visitation will be at 12 noon, Saturday, October 10, 2020 in the chapel of Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA, with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 p.m., also in the chapel. A private graveside service for family members only, will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 315 Greenwich Road, Savannah, GA.
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the use of face masks and social distancing will be required. A livestream link, for viewing the Memorial Service, will be available in this obituary prior to the service beginning Saturday for those who may not be able to attend.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to send a donation in Roberta H. Stall’s memory to a charity of their choice, if desired.
